On this day, 21st July, 2011, the Malawian protest is just a few of the many protests Malawi. In fact, Malawi has a chunk of archived history of unrests and violence.
This particular protest started from July 20 to somewhere October 2020. It was protested against the poor governance and poor economic management of President Bingu wa Mutharika and his Democratic Progressive Party.
The first two days of protests recorded 18 deaths, 98 serious injuries and 275 people were arrested. Further demonstrations were organised on 17 August and 21 September but it was cancelled prior to the intervention of UN.
