On this day, 22nd July, 2012, Ahmed Nabil al-Taher al-Alam, the President of the Libyan Olympic Committee was kidnapped and interestingly returned home safe and sound. Speaking to The Associated Press he said, “It will become clearer in the coming days. They raised no issue and they made no requests”.

It was very bizarre that armed men who according to the Olympic President, presented themselves as officials picked him near his office in Tripoli later brings him back without the usual way of receiving a ransom before his release. His brother Salah al-Alam said it was not clear why his brother was abducted or on what basis he was released by his abductors.
