The bouncing baby boy now a dead and gone soul, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was born in Nkroful, a fishing community in Ghana then Gold Coast on 21st September, 1909. He then saw the family of death on 27th April, 1972. Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was an indisputable Ghanaian politician and revolutionary who served as a Prime Minister and President of Ghana. He led Gold Coast into independence from the Britain in the year 1957.
For so long some years now much is seemed to be known about his life, but a lot is unknown about his death since there were thousands news coming out making people confuse. We will at this point move swiftly but carefully to highlight four main facts surrounding the unquestionable man, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s death from historians department perspective.
First, he died because of the work of his enemies.
When Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was overthrown, he believed completely western powers feared he would return to his motherland, Ghana. Generally speaking, he believed he was going to return to Ghana and to continue with power, but it could not manifest as he thought. As a result of this conviction, he, Nkrumah, tried protecting himself from western harm. He was then sent into a severe mental delusions disorder in which his contact with reality is lost when his cook passed on under mystifying circumstances. He even refused to seek for medical attention from outside Guinea, a place given to him by President Ahmed Toure due to fear of his life termination.
Moreover, his cancer development sent him to grave.
When Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah died on April 27, 1972, in Bucharest, the capital town of Romania, a test conducted disclosed he had contracted prostate cancer which worsened or impaired his fitness over the years. Many were humans who did not believe the diagnosed result to be real, yet some speculated that he might have be facing it when he was a president for the last few years.
After 1966, he did not set his eyes on his family or his home.
The whole story behind Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah as Ghana’s first president in absentia as he was overthrown is disturbingly provocative. It was said historically that a joint police and military operation took place in his country, Ghana while he was in Asia negotiating to resolve conflicts. When he landed in Beijing, China, he was informed frankly without missing words that he has lost his position as president.
History has it that Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah never again saw Ghana after 1966, but he was only limited to criticizing the governments in his country and fighting for his African vision through writings from Conakry, Senegal. Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah did not even see his wife, Fathia and that of his kids and country after 1966.
In addition to the above, his final burial was a doubled one
During Col. Ignatius Kutu Acheampong’s, military leader who had identified Nkrumah as a role model regime, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s body was flown home to Ghana. He was then first buried in Nkroful, his birthplace in the western region, Ghana. Later, in Accra, the capital city of Ghana, a mausoleum was built in his honour and the body was replaced in a grave.
