On this day, 26th July, 2013, a deadly virus known us Ebola ravaged some countries in West Africa killing almost all persons who got infected. The virus that was contagious and could affect person’s who came into contact with affected person’s was very deadly. Dr. Kent Brantly, a medical director for Samaritan’s Purse in Liberia, was not spared either by the virus.
Someone who attended and visited sick patients in wards finds himself in one ward, not as a doctor but as a patient receiving treatment. Dr. Brantly “miraculously”as he stated, survived a virus that typically causes massive internal bleeding and has a mortality rate of 60 percent to 90 percent in most cases. According to him his survival is as a result of the numerous prayers of friends and loved ones across the world.
He was sent back to Atlanta in a medical evacuation plane equiped with a special containment unit and was taken to the Emory University hospital, where he was treated at a special unit and subsequently discharged.
